What if, just hear me out, they were both actually lesbians and vendetta had a little crush on Charlotte and she didn't know her feelings or sexuality and she could deal with it so she tries to kill Charlotte to get over it and Charlotte suffers from crippling depression because she really loves vendetta but she doesn't know her feelings either so she's really sad about it and moving so she tries to keep herself happy by building a false wall of happiness around herself to deal with vendetta always rejecting her friendship and Charlotte can't talk to her mom or anyone about her feelings because her mom would think it was a pretending game and I don't think anyone would accept her and think she was crazy....... To me it makes sense
